The weather is getting colder, and the maintenance of diesel generator sets in winter is particularly important. KENTPOWER summarizes some methods for maintaining diesel engines in winter to share with our customers.
Precautions for the operation of the generator set in winter are as follows:
1. Pay attention to temperature changes, drain the cooling water in time, and replace it with antifreeze. Because diesel generator sets are often operated outdoors, special attention should be paid to temperature changes in winter. If the temperature is lower than 4 degrees, the cooling water in the cooling water tank of the diesel engine should be discharged in time to ensure that the cooling water will not freeze in the cooling water tank. Otherwise, the cooling water will expand during the solidification process, causing the cooling water tank to burst and damage.
2. Change the air filter frequently. The air filter element filters out impurities in the air and ensures the normal operation of the diesel engine cylinder. In winter, the wind speed on the surface is relatively high, the air flow is strong and there are more impurities. Therefore, it is necessary to change the air filter frequently to reduce the probability of impurities entering the cylinder and extend the service life and safety of the diesel generator set.
3. Warm up in advance and start slowly. When a diesel engine starts in winter, the temperature of the air sucked in the cylinder is low, and it is difficult for the piston to compress the gas to reach the natural temperature of the diesel. Therefore, corresponding auxiliary methods should be adopted before starting the diesel engine to increase the temperature of the diesel engine body. After starting the diesel engine, run it at low speed for 3-5 minutes in order to increase the temperature of the diesel engine, check the working condition of the lubricating oil, and put it into normal operation only after the check is normal.
4. When choosing engine oil for diesel generator set in winter, try to choose engine oil with a little bit thinner viscosity. Because the viscosity of the oil will increase after the temperature drops sharply, it may be greatly affected during cold start. It is difficult to start and the engine is difficult to rotate. Therefore, it is recommended to replace the oil with a lower viscosity.
